AdBlue is sold all over the UK & Ireland in the same retail sites and distribution network where you already buy diesel for your vehicle. It is also sold in service stations for trucks. You can find the service stations that sell AdBlue along your journey.
If you have several vehicles, you can also have AdBlue delivered in bulk directly to your home depot. To do this, you will need to have on site a bulk tank or a package like an IBC or a drum.
Your choice will depend on your consumption and the size of your commercial vehicle fleet and the number of Euro IV, V or VI SCR vehicles you have, regardless of whether you have, trucks, buses, coaches or light commercial vehicles.
Please do make sure you are buying “AdBlue” and not a product called “urea solution”. The product that you use needs to meet very strict ISO quality standards, otherwise you are at risk of contaminating your SCR system on your vehicle.

The average consumption of AdBlue for commercial vehicles will depend of the type of vehicles that you are driving (truck, bus, coach, van, refuse truck…), as well as its level of use. The type of journey you are driving will also have an impact on how much the engine needs to work and therefore on how much AdBlue you will need.
In general, expect a consumption of AdBlue of between 4% to 6% of the diesel consumption. In other words, you will use about 5 litres of AdBlue for every 100 litres of diesel, or about 1.5 litres of AdBlue for every 100 km on the road. This means you will fill your AdBlue tank much less frequently than your tank for diesel.

The most economical way is for Yara to deliver its Air1 AdBlue product in bulk directly to a dedicated AdBlue tank installed on your site. You can also buy AdBlue from our network of Air1 suppliers, where you will find AdBlue in 10L cans, in 210L drums and in 1000L IBCs. If properly stored, AdBlue has a shelf life of 12 months.
AdBlue should ideally be stored within a temperature range between 0 and 30°C, and kept protected from direct sunlight. It should be properly sealed when it is not being used. It is possible for AdBlue to freeze at -11°C, so it is important that you use a storage area that is not below this temperature. If AdBlue has frozen, it can be reused when it has thawed as it will return to its original state.
The storage area must be clean and free from dust to avoid any contamination, especially when a vehicle is being filled with AdBlue.
If the storage instructions are followed, then AdBlue can be stored for up to a year. If you need to store AdBlue for longer or in difficult conditions, eg a combine harvester then it is best to drain the AdBlue first or to analyse the AdBlue to ensure it remains within the specification needed.
Do not use old diesel or oil containers to transfer AdBlue into the tank. Any non-dedicated equipment can contaminate AdBlue. Even very small quantities of fuel/oil/lubricant can damage your SCR system.
When you refill with AdBlue, there is no need to wear protective clothing. However, we recommend that you wear gloves to prevent irritation to sensitive skin. Please read the safety data sheet on AdBlue when you handle large quantities of AdBlue.
The price of AdBlue depends on the amount that you will order. In general, the price of AdBlue per litre is much lower than that of diesel sold at the pump.
Most vehicles equipped with SCR catalysts use about 5% less diesel than other vehicles. This fuel saving for your truck, bus or light-goods vehicle makes AdBlue an economical choice. The running costs of your fleet will generally be lower than the ones of a fleet running with EGR vehicles that are not equipped with SCR.
Several factors impact AdBlue price. AdBlue is a high purity urea solution that has synthetic urea as a raw material. Because of the quality needed it is produced so that it is much purer than that used as fertilizer by farmers. It is therefore sold at a completely different price. Also, urea production requires a lot of energy, mostly natural gas. The price levels of oil, natural gas and ammonia have a direct impact on urea prices. When the price of these commodities increases, it has an impact on the AdBlue market prices.
