Leaf margins are chlorotic and then scorched. This spreads to the intercostal areas. The leaf becomes bright yellow with necrotic tints. The basal part of the leaf blade remains light green at the last.

Magnesium deficiency
Deficient leaf blades contain less than 0.1% magnesium on dry basis.
Potassium deficiency can cause similar symptoms.
