Symptoms
Plants are stunted and show purple tints on their dark green leaves, veins and stems. The older leaves, affected first, often senesce prematurely.
Causes
Phosphorus deficiency
Spring cereals may show reddening/purpling of older leaves in cold weather. Root and stem damage or poor soil consolidation can cause similar symptoms, too.
Cereals: 5 l/ha at tillering. Repeat at 10-14 day intervals if necessary. Also apply from ear emergence until the end of flowering (Zadok's G.S. 51 to 69). Water rate: 200 l/ha.
